it doesnt take much to gum up the carb.i never let my bike go any longer than i week without running it.even if idont ride it i start it but you have to let it run long enough to reach operating temperature.and also keep battery up[10 to 15 minutes is sufficent.my bike is a 96 w/12000 mi.i just replaced original battery.i installed a harley road king battery[260 cca]turns over much easier now.$50 at autozone.it should last another 4 yers at least.getting back to yours im assuming you took white spacer out.check air cleaner filter if its the original type cut the paper element out of it and silicone 1/2 thick foam in its place,dont go any hotter on plug than i #you will risk burning hole thru piston .igot my plug from k mart $1.49 champion# 810.sorry for ramblin..giro
